The theme for SESSIONS eKAPA 2005 was "Mzantsi: (Re)Locating Contemporary African Art Practice".

DAY 1

SESSION 1: "Framing Africa: the Exhibition and Contemporary African Art"
Speakers: N'Goné Fall & Sylvester Ogbechie.
Chair: Premesh Lalu.

SESSION 2: "Dangerous Liaisons: Artists, Curators, Institutions"
Speakers: Sipho Mdanda, Andrew Lamprecht & Thomas Mulcaire.

SESSSION 3: Globalism, Locality and New Topographies of Large Scale Curation"
Speakers: Fernando Alvim, Cardoso Albano, Ruth Noack, Donna Conwell. Chair: Rory Bester.
Public Keynote Address: Gavin Jantjes.

DAY 2

An experiential engagement with the city itself in the form of several site specific minilaboratories convened by: coffeebeans routes, Mustafa Maluka, Mimi Cherono Ng'ok, Claire Tancons, Ugochukwu-Smooth Nzewi, Gabi Ngcobo & Khwezi Gule.

DAY 3

SESSION 4: "Messy States of the Art: Transgressing the Boundaries of Art Practice and Activism"
Speakers: Kendell Geers, Tracey Rose, Thembinkosi Goniwe & Lesego Rampolokeng. Chair: Graham Falken.

SESSION 5: "African Forums for Multidisciplinarity, Networking and Emerging Voices"
Speakers: Ntone Edjabe, Thomas Gesthuizen, Koyo Kouoh, Marcus Neustetter & Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor. Chair: Edgar Pieterse.
